Location: Columbia, Maryland

Position Summary:

The Director of Marketing – Visualization (DMV) will be responsible for driving profitable growth of Ambu's Visualization product lines by developing comprehensive commercial and product marketing strategies and executing tactical marketing plans. Through direct partnership with the Visualization Sales Leadership and Global Marketing team, the DMV will be responsible for hiring and leading a team of Marketing Managers, Associates, and a National Sales Trainer in order to achieve short and long-term growth objectives.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Develop, communicate, and execute annual strategic marketing plans using fact-based insights
    • Identify market and customer growth opportunities in order to develop marketing strategies and programs which capitalize on these opportunities
    • Drive the adoption of innovation and higher value products through integrated marketing programs
    • Ensure that marketing programs are developed to include retention and increase penetration of existing Ambu customers and competitive accounts
    • Leverage digital marketing programs to drive sales funnel performance and enhance the customer engagement experience, post-purchase, adding lifetime value for customers
    • Represent and incorporate current US market trends and the voice of the customer to the global product development planning process ensuring next generation solutions will add value to the US region
    • Develop a clear positioning strategy
    • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of competitor portfolio offering and strategy
    • Develop and maintain pricing governance
    • Leverage value-based pricing strategies and contracting excellence to accelerate sales growth and profitability
    • Identify and foster strong partnerships with key opinion leaders (KOL): customers, professional associations, and advisory boards in the US in order to establish differentiated value propositions, deeper customer segmentation and buying criteria
    • Collaborate with sales leadership to evaluate and validate effectiveness of marketing strategies and programs; as well as track and report how these programs align with sales performance
    • Present quarterly status reports on important marketing programs/activities
    • Effectively lead new product launches
    • Establish training programs for new hires and the current sales organization that results in category share gain
    • Effectively lead talent management efforts to ensure required human resource capabilities are in place to execute strategies
    • Manage and develop direct and indirect staff, attract top talent and provide professional development opportunities to staff
    • Provide strategic guidance and supervise marketing and product managers. Act as passionate change agent to develop and expand specified market segments
    • Ability to travel up to 50% (e.g., training, co-rides with salesforce, customer visits, KOL meetings, and tradeshows)

Qualifications /Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferred Marketing or related field, M.Sc. or MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in marketing, preferably in the field of medical devices. Experience from Pulmonology, ENT or Urology preferred.
  • Direct management experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing commercialization initiatives in the medical device industry
  • Strong strategic, critical thinking skills with ability to translate to effective implementation
  • Highly developed business acumen and ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems for business strategy
  • Ability to apply fundamental concepts and practices to conduct needs assessments and design training programs
  • Demonstrated willingness and passion for educating others
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify and explain complex topics effectively
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Creativity and willingness to develop optimal solutions to complex problems within defined constraints
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a timely manner
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Valid driver's license, willingness to fly
